Smith, 44, of Montezuma, was pronounced dead on arrival at Auburn Memorial hospital early Sunday morning after being rushed there by ambulance following a collapse in Montezuma. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rena Helmer Smith; six daughters, Mrs. Mark Townsend of Auburn RD, Charlotte, Joann, Beverly, Sandra and Pamela, all at home; four sons. Dale in the Navy, Harold, Rodney, Edward, at home; four grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert R. Smith of Seneca Falls; five sisters. Mrs. Vernon Hebb of Cumberland, Md., Mrs. Holmes Atkinson, Mrs. Robert Helmer, Mrs. Vernon Bennett, all of Montezuma, and Mrs. Carlton Worsham of Baltimore, Md. Services were held at 2.30 p.m. Wednesday at the Montezuma Methodist church, followed by burial in South Butler cemetery.
