He was a POW at Harper's Ferry on 15 September 1862 and paroled on 16 September 1862 with his regiement. An account of this Harper's Ferry incident can be found in the book 'Harper's Ferry Cowards.' Aaron was transfered on 25 December 1864, was hospitalized with Typhoid Fever, was wounded by a shell in his leg, and mustered out on 03 June 1865 in Alexandria, VA.
