    George Monroe White was the son of Asa & Lucinda White. About 1843, he married Sally Williams the daughter of Elijah & Elizabeth Filkins Williams. George & Sally were raising a family of 8 children in the small town of Montezuma in Cayuga County, NY when George enlisted in Aug of 1862. He died of small pox in the Kalorama Hospital in Washington, DC in December 1862.

Deceased had been in poor health.... he is survived by one daughter, Miss Clara E. White.brothers, Louis F. White of Jamestown, and George White of Denver, CoL a sister Sarah Wevaer of Auburn. Mr. White was born in.Montezuma, where he spent his early life, coming to this section when a, young man. He worked for a time in Penfield, and later came to this village, where he was married December 24, 1874, to Miss Minnie Haines. A few years later they removed to Penfield, where Mr. White worked the George Clark.
