Strong, 88, of 3433 Route 34B, Scipio Center, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1999 at the Finger Lakes Center for Living, following an illness of several months. Mrs. Strong was born in Mapleton, N.Y., the daughter of the late Walter and Avis White King and has resided in southern Cayuga County for all of her life. She was employed at the Brew Funeral Home for 27 years. Prior to that, she was employed as a cashier at the Bill Powers Store in Sherwood and the Earl Turney Grocery Store in Union Springs. In addition, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star of Sherwood and a member of the Scipioville Presbyterian Church. Surviving are one son, Lyman E. Strong of Scipio Center; one sister, Ruth Beach of Auburn; one nephew, James Beach and his wife Carol of Auburn; one niece, Jean Saroodis and her husband William of Weedsport; one cousin, Homer White of Auburn. Mrs. Strong was predeceased by her husband, Lyman M. 'Popeye' Strong in 1994; her brother, Earl King, who died several years ago; and an infant daughter, who died many years ago. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 11 in the Scipioville Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Janet Newman officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Scipioville. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 10 at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., Auburn.
