    Mrs, Nancy A. Stokes, widow of the late Stephen M. Stokes, died at her home, No. 50 Barber street, Thursday afternoon at 4:20 after an illness covering a period of 13 years. During that time Mrs. Stokes suffered with stomach and heart trouble and a complication resulted in ber death. Nanoy A. Post was born in Spring street In New York city on February 22, 1821, and resided there until about six years of age. At that age she moved to Montezuma, her father having traded his property in Spring street for a farm in the vicinity of Montezuma. There Mrs. Stokes received her education and there she met Mr. Stokes, whom she married in 1837. Mr. Stokes was a merchant in Montezuma, and served two terms of two years each as canal collector. He died in 1866 and shortly after Mrs. Stokes and ber family moved to this city where she has since resided. Mrs. Stokes was a woman of true Christian character, with a sweet and loving disposition that won all to her. During the years of her sickness, she bore hersuffering with patience and fortitude. Mrs. Stokes is survived by eight children. Miss Catherine Stokes, who resided with her mother; J. A. Stokes, of Norwich. N. Y.; Chauncy M. Stokes, of Chicago: Mrs. Calista Cooley, of Chicago; Charles O. Stokes, of Auburn; DeWitt Stokes, of Syracuse, Neb,; Henry Stokes and Elmer Stokes, both of Chicago. Funeral services were held at the Wall street M. E. church, of which Mrs. Stokes was a member, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Burial was in Throopsville cemetery.
